ENTRANCE EXAM -

Eighth graders seeking admission into St. Francis must take the “Scholastic Testing Service” (S.T.S.) High School Placement Exam. This is a standardized test that we use to assess baseline academic performance. Exam sections include: verbal skills, cognitive skills, reading comprehension, math concepts, math problem solving (there is no algebra material on this exam) and language-grammar skills.

The Entrance Exam for the Class of 2018 will be held on January 11, 2014 at 8:00 AM.

An entrance exam is required for all eighth grade students interested in applying for admission to St. Francis High School. If you do not take the entrance exam on-site at St. Francis, but would like to apply for admission, you may send us the results of your entrance exam taken at another school. However, invitations into the school are awarded to those qualified students testing at our site first. Due to the dramatically increasing interest in St. Francis High School as the number one choice in private Catholic education here in the western suburban area, we are anticipating a very large number of students making St. Francis High School their primary testing location. Please make St. Francis your first choice and test at our site to make certain you can earn your space in our wonderful school.

Please note that most high schools within the Joliet Diocese hold their annual entrance exam on the same date. There is a $35.00 testing fee and there will be a registration deadline. The St. Francis Entrance Exam form will be available online in a pdf format. To complete entrance exam registration, please send us a completed and signed registration form, $35 fee (checks payable to St. Francis High School)and a copy of seventh grade report card by Monday, January 7, 2013. (Drop-off and pick-up students on west side of building in circle at door #19 or on east side of building at door #12). The exam takes about 3 1/2 hours with one 20-minute refreshment break. (Note: Calculators are not allowed.)

Each year, St. Francis High School awards over $30,000 in scholarships to incoming freshmen. Although the criteria to apply for individual scholarships may vary slightly, all awards are based on the applicants' achievements in academics, extracurricular activities and leadership. Please see our scholarships/financial aid page for further information.
