The Java Honors Programming class teaches the students how to do basic programming in Java.
We use a text based application named JCreator Pro to create and run the programs. Daily class work consists of learning a programming concept and then applying it by writing a program. The students turn in their programs and their notes for credit. Over the course of a year a complete notebook with an explanation of the terms and working examples is created by the students.
Instead of a final exam, the students complete a two week final project. This allows the student to demonstrate they can use programming to design and create an application.
This year's project was a multi-function calculator that supports at least 11 applications.
Good candidates for the Java Honors Programming Class will have taken the Visual Basic Programming Class, have good logic skills, and meet the grade requirement.
