Quote of the Week: "Keep your dreams
alive. Understand to achieve anything requires
faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work,
determination, and dedication. Remember all things
are possible for those who believe." ~ Gail Devers
This year's national theme for Catholic
Schools Week, "Dividends For Life",
reminds us that there is no better investment than
the education of a child. According to Karen
Ristau, NCEA president, "Catholic schools provide
good things for students and families-high
expectations and daily experience of faith. In
these challenging times, the theme also reminds
parents that the dividends of a Catholic school
education-students prepared in faith, knowledge,
morals and discipline-last a lifetime. There is no
better way to invest in a child's future-or the
future of our world."
Thanks to everyone for making this a
special Catholic School's Week.
Good luck to our Boys' Swim Team as they
head into their conference meet this
Saturday.

Special
Announcement: Science Suite Named in Honor
of Mary Jane Feltes
The spirit of one of the most
special people to touch the lives of St.
Francis families lives
on In an interview with
administration and the campaign team in the fall
of 2008, Mary Feltes described the new science
suite as her dream. The science labs had not
been touched in other capital campaigns at St.
Francis, because, as Mary said, "I did not want a
band-aid or a quick fix; I wanted the science labs
done right". Having raised $5.1 million of
the $7 million needed for construction of the
addition, on February 19, 2009, members of the
faculty, staff, administration, School Board and
Steering Committee celebrated the beginning of the
$2 million campaign completion phase to build the
Science Suite and Learning Resource Center.
The theme for the completion
phase...Completing the
Dream. The day after
the announcement of the completion phase, Mary
Jane Feltes, chair of the science department at
St. Francis High School for 24 years, passed away
from heart failure at the age of 64.
Completing the Dream
became more than the title of the completion phase
of the campaign, it became a battle cry in Mary's
honor. Today, we are proud to
announce that when ground is broken on June 1,
2010 for the new Science Suite and Learning
Resource Center, the Science Suite will be named
in Mary's honor. Please join Mary's family
and the St. Francis family in celebrating the life
of a teacher, friend and
mentor. |
